A Watt is used to measure the amount of power or energy transfer. The Watt is named after Scottish inventor James Watt who greatly improved the efficiency of steam engines, one of the main components enabling the Industrial Revolution.
Electrically power can be calculated as Watts = Voltage (V) x Current (A) eg 1 Watt = 1V x 1A.
