Dendrites are growth of material in a slim needle or tree like structure and can be positive or negative. Positively they are used as part of the process to form polycrystalline silicon crystals for solar cells. In batteries used outside their design capabilities, dendrites form shortening the battery’s life. Maintaining good battery health helps prevent formation of dendrites.
