Amorphous Semiconductor

by Solus Energy

A non‐crystalline semiconductor material that has an irregular atomic structure (long range order). Amorphous silicon is used for thin film solar cells, although other materials eg cadmium telluride (CdTe) are being used instead for thin film cells due to low manufacturing efficiencies using silicon.

Amorphous inorganic semiconductors are also being investigated for suitability for solar cells.
